The SkipsoLabs Story
We know innovation, it's in our DNA
A bit about us
SkipsoLabs was founded in 2007 with an ambitious objective: to create a platform that supports and accelerates sustainable innovation globally. Over the years we have quickly become one of the leading innovation management platforms on the market, helping organizations worldwide find, manage and nurture innovation. We do this by leveraging the latest web technologies and by using a combination of:
We were inspired to start SkipsoLabs after reading The World is Flat, by Thomas L. Friedman. The powerful metaphor of seeing the world as a level playing field, where everyone has an equal opportunity, has been the founding principle upon which we started building our business. Over 10 years in business, we are proud to see how our innovation management software has been used to connect thousands of organizations and individuals all over the world.

How We Got Here
SkipsoLabs has built software platforms to support and power some of the most prestigious innovation programs in the world. Over the years we have worked and built a close relationship with top corporates, leading universities, government agencies, accelerators as well as leading not for profit organizations. We see our clients as an extension of our team and we work with them closely to help them get the most out of our platform.
WHAT INSPIRED US
We became inspired to start Skipso after reading: The World is Flat by Thomas L.Friedman, Wikinomics by D. Tapscott and A. Williams and The Dawn of the E-Lance Economy by T. Malone and R. Laubacher.
When we started Skipso, our initial focus was on Cleantech. We grew Skipso to become one of the largest Cleantech platform and communities globally.
FIRST INNOVATION CHALLENGE
In 2009 we launched our first innovation challenge, the “Rwanda Rural Electrification Challenge”. We helped Swiss NGO Mabawa crowdsource solutions to bring electricity to a village in rural Rwanda using renewable energy sources. To date, this has been one of our most successful challenges ever.
FIRST WHITELABEL PLATFORM
In 2010 we launched our first white-label innovation platform powering the Finnish Cleantech Cluster. The focus was still on Cleantech, however we started moving away from building our own community and started focusing on building a powerful SaaS platform.
MIT CLEAN ENERGY PRIZE
Our innovation challenge offerings kept growing strong and in 2011 we powered the prestigious MIT Clean Energy Prize, one of the leading entrepreneurial competitions in the world.
RE-LAUNCHED AS SKIPSOLABS
After the successful take off of our whitelabel cleantech platform, we decided to make a key transition from focusing on one industry vertical (Cleantech) to becoming a generic innovation management platform provider. We officially re-launched as SkipsoLabs.
Our innovation management services expanded and we started powering innovation platforms for organizations in many different industry verticals including: Fintech, Foodtech, Fashiontech, ICT, Nanotech, Insuretech, Regtech.
We kept expanding our platform functionality and proposition by adding core community management and innovation ecosystem modules allowing organizations to implement fully fledged solutions bringing together all their different stakeholders.
SkipsoLabs was selected by the prestigious XPRIZE Foundation, the world leader in incentivized prize competitions to drive radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity, to become the platform of choice to power their prizes.
SkipsoLabs is the first innovation management software provider to offer a multi-tenant solution allowing large corporates to have different connected micro-sites for their different business units or other organizations such as industry clusters to have a hub and spoke solution.
SkipsoLabs continued its international growth establishing presence in the US, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and India, in addition to its UK headquarter.
Today, SkipsoLabs offers full stack of software solutions to manage any type of innovation programs. Powerful enough to manage individual programs and modular enough to create a complete innovation system.
